I don’t claim to have all the answers or even THE answer.

If I don’t have the answer or experience, I’ll find someone who does!

Hi Friends!

The Busy BCBA is for supporting the behavior analyst in their daily life, not the client.

A Brief Introduction

I have only known Behavior Analysis as a career. Well, I did work at a card shop and a dental office while in school. Aside from that, I was introduced to behavior analysis in my first undergraduate class in the fall of 2002. I completed practicum experience with special populations and completed an undergraduate honors thesis. This was the hook.

I moved to Chicago for graduate school and was introduced to the Standard Celeration Chart and a world outside of autism. While in Chicago I completed my experience hours at a school for children with autism, in-home ABA therapy, in the graduate school setting with higher ed students, and typically developing early learners. After school, I worked with adults with a dual diagnosis in a group home and day program setting.

Sometimes, I refer to this time as “Back in the Day”. In all that time, I never interacted with commercial insurance. Once we moved across the country, I was able to apply my experience with the Chart and worked at a preschool program for early learners with autism. I learned SO much there.

In my time since certification, I’ve worked in | on | for:

  • Residential Group Homes

  • Preschool Programs

  • Commercial Insurance

  • State and County Agencies

  • Small Agencies

  • Large Companies

  • In-Home ABA Services

  • Clinic-Based ABA Services

  • Intensive Day Programs

  • Parent Training Workshops

  • My Dream Job - Three Times!!!!

I am now an independent BCBA offering services to the community and fellow BCBAs and it is absolutely amazing.

This blog and the coordinating services came from the many, many times I felt burnt out. There were SO many times I wanted to get OUT. I wanted to do (almost) anything else in the entire world. I couldn’t go into one more home. I couldn’t take one more assessment or crisis or school meeting. I didn’t want to work 24 hours a day.

I don’t want that to happen to you. Oh friend, there’s so much we can do to prevent things getting that bad! I would love to help make one decision easier for you, whether to ask for a reduced schedule at work or selecting the best planner. I have years of field experience but even more years of experience figuring out how to get through life, one session at a time.

Will you join me?
