The BCBA and The Goal: A Tumultuous Relationship

If you’re a behavior analyst, you probably “know” how to self-manage.  The trouble with knowing is that it often makes no difference. Everyone knows how to lose weight.  Step 1: eat less. Step 2: Exercise more. Yet if you visit any bookstore you’ll find shelves of books on the topic, all promising that they cracked the “how-to” problem.

Why we don’t self-manage is because, often, when we set goals, we don’t take into consideration the circumstances that are going to stop us from using what we know to do.  In this webinar, we look beyond the “how-to” of self-management and dive into the deeper components that need to be in place and accounted for to do what you already know “how to” and to meet your goals.

Learning Objectives:

  1. The learner will recall the definition of Self-Management

  2. The learner will identify advantages and barriers to effective self-management

  3. The learner will identify two personal barriers to implementing effective self-management.
